Wanted: Favorite ModCloth Items of the Week
Sorry about the lack of post yesterday! Between work, cooking, and cleaning for company coming today (hooray!) it just didn’t happen! Here’s my favorites from ModCloth this week:
Party Time!
- She’s Got Charisma Dress
- Purple Aura Skirt
- Phopshoresence Dress
- Oh Yeah! Dress
- Down by the Bay Dress
- Crewel to be Kind Dress
- Blush and Beautiful Dress
- Betsey Johnson Iona Dress
- She’s Got Charisma Dress – A beautiful, classic dress you could wear anywhere! The eyelet pattern adds some daintiness. =)
- Purple Aura Skirt – I’ve seen a lot of these mega-layered skirts lately, it seems like a flattering look! This one comes in a great color.
- Phosphorescence Dress – I am loving this color! I’m not sure if it’s too much bright color for a whole dress, I’d really like to see what it looks like on someone and how you would accessorize to tone down the color a bit. This dress has a lot of great little details as well!
- Oh Yeah! Dress – This pattern comes in a skirt and a dress at MC. This would make a nice, casual summer dress, and the wide straps would make it easy to put a solid cami underneath for times when you can’t wear such a low neckline.
- Down by the Bay Dress – I love the colors of this dress, though some of the layering is a little awkward. Otherwise, a nice fresh, modern dress.
- Crewel to be Kind Dress – Great party dress! I love the big flower pattern. Unfortunately, the last thing I need is another party dress. When I go to enough parties a year that I wear all my party dresses, then I’ll consider getting a new one =)
- Blush and Bashful Dress -
- Betsey Johnson Iona Dress – This is such a beautiful, glamorous, old fashioned dress! I can only imagine wearing this if I was the first lady back in the 50′s or something! So pretty!
The Artist
- Wrap Superstar Dress
- Pro Bow-No Skirt
- Paper Bag Lunch Skirt
- Oh Yeah! Skirt
- Imperial College Dress
- Gleolite Shorts
- Crop Right There Top
- Color Guard Dress
- Wrap Superstar Dress – This seems like a cool dress, and I like the colors and shape of the dress, but I’m not sure if I like these dresses that look like a shirt and a skirt, but are actually attached. I guess I’d have to try one on to tell if I really like it or not!
- Pro Bow-No Skirt – A nice, simple skirt in a beautiful color. The bow is a great touch!
- Paper Bag Lunch Date Skirt – I love the look of this dress, but I’m not sure about the material. It looks soft, the description says it “has stretch.” I would expect a skirt like this to be a little more sturdy, and I’m not sure I could rock this style in what one reviewer describes as “like sweat pants.” Fashion blogger Tieka over at Selective Potential didn’t have any problem looking great in it though!
- Oh Yeah! Skirt – I think I prefer the dress in this pattern to the skirt. I’m worried it would be hard to pair this with a top that wouldn’t make the confetti dots look faded out, but I love the way the pattern looks on this skirt! The waist of the skirt looks really well-fitting, and it has pockets!
- Imperial College Dress – A cute, academic style dress! Looks super cute, though I’m a little hesitant about the sleevelessness.
- Gleoite Shorts – Such awesome, artsy shorts! This is the kind of piece that I’m not sure if I could pull off… One reviewer said they weren’t very flattering to her shape because of the way they poof out at the sides. I’d like to see what kind of top these could be paired with. For some reason these shorts make me think of going boating or exploring!
- Crop Right There Top – What an interesting top! It’s a little cropped on the length and the sleeves! A shirt like this would bring out my inner artist!
- Color Guard Dress – A bright, bold colorblock dress that would look great at a summer party. Might be too short for anything else, it’s hard to tell.
Simply Charming
- Tsuketate Top
- Smock the Casbah Dress
- Orchid Grey Dress
- Mojitos on Monday Dress
- Home Frayed Shirt
- Georgie Shorts
- Dear Diary Blouse
- Arcadia Tunic
- Tsuketate Top – *sigh* What a romantic top! A gorgeous flower pattern, ruffles, and a cinched waist. Makes me think of warm summer nights with your main squeeze!
- Smock the Casbah Dress – There’s something about the color of this dress I really like! And the detailing in the embroidery and ruffles is really charming.
- Orchid Grey Dress – I am so in love with this dress! The colors are perfect, and the print is so beautiful! This would make an excellent Easter dress.
- Mojitos on Monday Dress – What a cool dress! The gray color of the skirt goes great with the muted color of the top. The pleats are a great touch that makes this dress office-worthy!
- Home Frayed Shirt – This shirt is so sweet. The little rosebud pattern is so dainty and wonderful! I love the way the collar and neckline work together, and the roll-up sleeves are a great touch. Something about patterns like these remind me of my Grandma Wilma.
- Georgie Shorts – Cute, simple, and would go with anything! Oh, and they’re not denim!
- Dear Diary Blouse – Bright colored plaid is so appealing! Tons of great detail here – cap sleeves, a cinched back, sweet little pockets! I love that a plaid, button-up, pocketed shirt can look so feminine!
- Arcadia Tunic – Flowers and polkadots? I’m sold. I love the bright-on-black print, and I’m a sucker for pearlized buttons!
Accessorize!
- Toast and Jam Flat
- The Weaving Rainbow Wedge
- Sun Queen Sandal
- Oceanside Pier Wedge
- Miss June Heel
- Meet Me on Wedgeday
- The Aviatrix Sunglasses
- A-braid of Commitment Belt in Auburn
- Toast and Jam Flat – The pop of purple on these shoes looks great with the other, more natural colors. The laces add a nice bit of detail.
- The Weaving Rainbow Wedge – So colorful! These would go with a lot of outfits. Although, I have a pair of multicolored heels that I rarely wear because my outfits usually incorporate several different colors already and I don’t want to over-do it… But these look mostly pink from the front so maybe it would be easier to work them in =)
- Sun Queen Sandal – I’m a fan of strappy, neutral-colored sandals, and I’m always on the lookout for a replacement for my current pair of $7 Payless ones that are sadly on their last leg (I’m not sure how many more times I can crazy-glue them back together!) The leather on these looks super comfy.
- Oceanside Pier Wedge – It’s way hard for me to pass up a nautical style shoe! I love big white stitches on a dark fabric like this.
- Miss June Heel – Adorable heels in a great color! The pattern inside is so sweet, and the rose accent is a nice touch.
- Meet Me on Wedgeday – A nice, classy black wedge. I tend to put off wearing shoes this high, though, for fear of the pain!
- The Aviatrix Sunglasses – These sunglasses remind me of Trixie, my favorite character from Speed Racer! Ok, maybe it’s just because they have “trix” in the name.. but she did wear some aviator-esque glasses when she flew the helicopter in the movie! Ever since my shades got broken at (marching) band practice, I’ve been wearing my husband’s sporty Oakley’s =/ These would be a nice replacement!
- A-braid of Commitment Belt – What a cool belt! Most of my belts came with pairs of pants in Jr. High and such… my wardrobe is really lacking when it comes to big belts to tie around dresses and skirts! I have a purple dress this would look great around!
That’s all! I’ll be having a great weekend with my husband and brother-in-law, playing video games and eating downtown! See you on Monday =)

Aw man, I really want some party dresses! And then some parties to go to!
Have you been checking out ModCloth’s Spring Fever Blogger Challenge? It’s on their blog page and my fave Keiko Lynn is one of the challengers!
It is awesome to see how different (trendy) people style the same piece! I sort of wish MC would post pictures of the items in their store on people…or let customers upload pics of themselves in the piece for the customer reviews. Without being able to try clothing on, I’d like to see how everything fits and hangs on other people at least (and picture how you might be able to wear it). And with such a wide range of customers (it seems), it would be nice to see everything on different body types!
I have been voting! =) It is really fun to see how really fashionable ladies work with the same outfit! I thought it was cute how Keiko Lynn was the only one looking up at the camera and smiling in the last competition, haha. I wonder why the looking down, funny legs pose became the popular fashion pose..
Modcloth does have a Flickr group where people can upload photos.. the link is on the right side of the blog page. It would be nice if some of those photos were on the product page though! Sometimes if they have a piece in a lookbook they’ll put that model on the product page, but it seems pretty rare. That would be most helpful to see how short some of the dresses are.
Hi Natalie and Jen,
Natalie thanks for pointing Jen in the right direction! We also work with tons of bloggers on a regular basis, so that is also a good place to check out how items fit people.
Hope that helps!
